I was supposed to do a speed track workout this morning, but I've been feeling a bit crummy the past few days. I instead ran an easy 7.4 miles 8:19 AP.

I had planned on waking up early doing a quick run, then lift weights. Unfortunately my body had other plans. I don't know why, but I've had the hardest time getting moving in the morning lately. I think it might have to do with the fact that summer is coming to an end. I instead decided to do a speed workout, probably not the best idea the day before a LR, oh well it felt good! Ran 6.6 miles some miles were a lot quicker, some a bit slower 7:42 AP.

Ran the Bonneville Shoreline trail with Scott, Melissa and Amber. I am definitely not a trail runner and was a little hesitant to trail run again after my last experience. This trail was more gentle than Diamond Fork though. Overall hills were tough but ended with a nice 12 miles for the day.

I was going to do a solo run outside this morning, but it was really windy so I had to resort to the treadmill. This run seemed to last forever, thanks to Monica for the fun chit chat. Ran 10.5 miles 8:06 AP.

Ran 10 easy miles 8:30 AP with Jason and Paul through Spanish Fork. It was super windy and a bit chilly this morning. Fun to run with my hubby again, it's been awhile.

7 easy peasy miles today 8:19 AP. Miles will be low this week as I taper for Hobblecreek. Oh how I hate the taper.

Today was one adventurous run. I decided to do a few slow, short, easy miles. When I left my house it was windy, but decided I was sick of running on the treadmill. I ran to the gym, got a quick drink and headed home which is all uphill and into the wind. I was literally pushed back by the strength of the gusts. I ran 4.5 miles 9.05 AP, horribly slow. I had intended these miles to be slow, but 9 minute miles, come on. The only great thing about this run is I was able to use my new running sunglasses, they are amazing! They are called Unstoppable by Oakley. They are made for women by women and are so light you don't even realize you have them on.

Yay, today was the day of my favorite half course around. Jason and I loaded the buses and were up at the start line about an hour early. It was fun to chit chat with our friends to pass the time. The race started on time again this year, thank goodness. Jason and I kept a nice strong pace and hit our 5k at 22 minutes and our 10k at 46 minutes. I was feeling really good, but around mile 10 Jason told me that he was tired and to go on without him. I wanted him there for the last few miles when I knew the head games would start. I hated to leave him, but knew if I wanted to be in the elite 100 I had to push on alone. I felt myself starting to slow around mile 11 and knew the head games were setting in. With one mile left to go I started getting leg cramps on my right inner thigh and had to convince myself to keep pushing strong. I rounded the corner to the finish line and heard a woman coming up on me in an all out sprint, I started to sprint and beat her in. I DID IT! I made the Elite 100 women with a time of 1:44:11, 7:57 AP. A woman said to me "Awesome job elite lady!" as she placed the elite medal around my neck. The funny thing is there were still about 10 elite medals left to give out, but when I got my race printout it said I was woman 100. Can't get closer than that! I was so elated! I hurried and got my chip off my shoe and grabbed a drink just in time to see Jason come through the finish, which I never get to see since he is usually faster than me. All in all an awesome day. Congrats to all our friends who ran this race as well.

My legs are feeling so much better now so I decided to do a progressive speed run. Ran 5.3 miles 7:47 AP. Weights, worked quads, hamstrings, inner and outer thigh, glutes, chest, core, back, shoulders, biceps and triceps. It felt good to do weights again after focusing so much on running lately. I'm sure I'm gonna feel it tomorrow.:)

Man I had super low miles this week. I ended up taking Thursday and Friday off completely. With school starting for the kiddos and me back at work life has been nuts. I was supposed to run the Moonlight Half last night as a bandit with a bunch of buddies, but for whatever reason it didn't happen. I ran this morning instead 8.3 fast miles 7:34 AP, everything felt great for some reason today, maybe the few days off. Whatever the reason I LOVE days like this, it reminds me how much I love running.
